Supporting Nikki Haley for Governor, South Carolina

Posted on: December 7, 2009

(This will be a sort of bucket post, original tribute to Nikki Haley remains above fold, latest update will be upfront, be sure to visit previous updates below fold)

UPDATE:

TODAY IS THE DAY … VOTE FOR NIKKI HALEY !!

Seems the winds of political fortune are blowing Nikki’s way. Politico’s Jonathan Martin has a finger on the pulse of the electorate in the ‘new South Carolina’.

For conservative women [ ]  Haley is what they’ve been waiting for — a barrier-breaking woman who wants to talk more about issues than the history she may make.

Running against a trio of longtime politicians in the primary earlier this month, Haley seized the mantle of both outsider and purist conservative — a formidable combination in this election year.

NEWS FLASH!!!

If there’s been any doubt hitherto, this should put paid to it – Nikki Haley will be the next governor of the state of South Carolina.

CNN is reporting that a major primary battle rival of Nikki Haley, Henry McMaster, the SC Attorney General, will endorse Nikki Haley in the week leading up to the run-off election.

Haley’s sweeping victory in the four-way GOP primary last Tuesday ended McMaster’s gubernatorial ambitions, but the two Republicans maintained a friendly relationship throughout the race and spoke by phone several times in the wake of Haley’s win.

McMaster finished in third place, just behind Rep. Gresham Barrett, who faces Haley in a June 22 runoff.

Haley spoke warmly of McMaster the day after her big win, calling him “amazing” and “a joy to campaign with.” CNN.

Add the fact that no less an expert than Karl Rove opined recently that the run-off chances of the distant-second place winner, Gresham Barrett to be slim. That and likely pressure from party bigwigs, donors and a natural building of critical mass will ensure that Haley will carry forward with some ease.

UPDATE:

NIKKI HALEY LEADS BY 21 POINTS

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Haley picking up 55% of the vote over Democratic State Senator Vincent Sheheen, who earns 34% support.

Haley picks up more support than her Republican opponent among voters not affiliated with either major political party.

Haley is viewed Very Favorably by 34% of South Carolina voters and Very Unfavorably by only 13%.

At this point in a campaign, Rasmussen Reports considers the number of people with a strong opinion more significant than the total favorable/unfavorable numbers.

Go Nikki, Go.

The next big hurdle for Nikki is the runoff on the 22nd of June. Once she pulls that off, she is sure to win the Governor mansion, Real Clear Politics considers the state in general election to be a Likely GOP.

Nikki Haley is now National News! There is at least one reference to her in almost daily on the memeorandum stream. Major sites such as the Daily Beast and Politics Daily, as well as Politico are doing a story on her frequently.

The left is exasperated that its natural claim over ‘foreigners’ is not holding fast.  It is seething with discontent, partly fueled by the failure of its own chosen One, and now it seeks to attack all that’s in sight. Not just Nikki Haley, but everything South Carolina.

The liberal media is now recruiting Indians to bash Nikki by questioning her honesty and impugning her character …. MORE
