1st Lieutenant Michael Behenna was sentenced to 25 years in prison for killing Ali Mansur, a known Al Qaeda operative

That single line alone should spur a nation to action. But in this upside down world where terrorists are special, and patriots are villains, where hijab wearing minions security-check elederly habit-wearing nuns, only in America of 2010 would a soldier need to defend himself against his own government. Could fiction be more kafkaesque than this fact?

The weather in New York is exactly like it was Nine years ago, on Nine Eleven.

lightbeamWTC.jpgToday is that day.

We pledge on this day:

* To Never Forget.

* To remember those who passed.

* To pray for those who fight to ensure this does not happen again.

* To wish strength for those who bring the perpetrators to justice.

* To be ever vigilant.

* To ensure ‘That our flag was still there!

Not a moment was lost since the towers came down before the detractors from truth went to work. It began in the Middle East with folks dancing and whistling on the streets at America’s injury. It continued on in Europe _ it’s always in Europe that trashy ideas begin, why do we even bother with that lost cause – with the the publication of a scurrilous book in French, alleging that terrorists had nothing to with it. Then it came home, in the US Midwest with nefarious videos, radio shows, and blog whisperings.

From 2003 on, it was a deluge, resulting from the merging of a number of negative sentiments and forces. Genuine anti-war sentiment got reinforced with rabid partisanship. Soon added to the mix was an antagonism to all things Bush – war, Iraq, Pentagon, Military, etc. – culminating in a sorry candidate named Kerry, and the bitter memories of 2000 recount debacle.

6a00d8341c60bf53ef0120a875e93d970b-800wiFrom 2005 on, the runaway train of Untruth took on a life of its own. At one point in 2006 there were as many as a dozen free videos on the Internet about how the towers fell down due not to terrorists but something else. In retrospect, one has to wonder who was funding, and what was behind all this so-called truth movement? As it turned out, a whole new generation of first-time voters was being groomed to hate Bush, distrust America, love the questioning of public truths, and insidiously benefit the Democrat party, and eventually Obama (even Hillary wasn’t good enough for most of the kids, young women and peaceniks). Notwithstanding valiant efforts at truth by fellows like Martin, the useful idiots continue to question.

The history of America in the new millennium is a history of self-hate, self-doubt, recrimination and vacillation. Patriot Day morphed into something dubious called Service Day. Koran thumpers of Taliban are nearly about to rejoin the government in Kabul, while the Bible readers in America are being publicly ridiculed by the media. American self-loathing resulted in Ground Zero sprouting a mosque, while US embassies in Muslim countries continue to function as fortresses. Muslims continue on with the dream of grand caliphate that will usher in ultimate peace, while fools continue to dream of a moderate Islam rising to meet the US across a yawning gulf.

A nation that stood as a beacon of hope, freedom and liberty is suddenly on the verge of submitting herself to the most banal, intolerant, misogynistic, anti-pluralistic ideology ever!

One big slap in the face, and Lady Liberty is prepared to veil herself!

It is becoming very difficult to continue writing this post.

“All that we are saying is, Don’t Build a Mosque” at our burial ground!

God Bless America.

Sarah Palin on Ground Zero Mosque.

Big, Cruel, Insensitive Mosque …

Horse Soldier of Afghanistan.

(Dedicated respectfully, to all the victims of 9-11, and to all the men and women of US and Allied military forces)

Never Forget - Illuminate the Truth

Governor Palin, you are the only true leader remaining in this country!

For months now, the blogosphere has been seething with dismay over the 9-11 site mosque. Passionate and strong-willed  Pamela Geller,  has been a most assiduous, consistent and scholarly critic of this proposal. She stood up  to speak against the idea repeatedly, and took on a lot of criticism, during the limited coverage American media gave to this  important issue. Lest people forget, this is not just a local matter of concern to New Yorkers only!

Last week, this blog posted lengthy summary of the voices that spoke out on why this monstrosity is wrong. Timid Big Media and Cruel, Insensitive, Big Mosque -The ad the networks won’t put on air. That post fondly wished for our favorite Governor to express her thoughts on the matter. And she just did.

Coming as it did, so quick on the heels of our post, the timing  so dramatic, it’s almost tempting to take credit for eliciting Sarah’s response. But that’s neither here nor there, the point is: the last remaining sensible AND BRAVE politician in America spoke. And how eloquently!

Brief, pointed, succinct and shout-out-loud – all hallmarks of Palin-speak.

Stated like only Sarah could:

Peaceful New Yorkers, pls refute the Ground Zero mosque plan if you believe catastrophic pain caused @ Twin Towers site is too raw, too real.

Peace-seeking Muslims, pls understand, Ground Zero mosque is UNNECESSARY provocation; it stabs hearts. Pls reject it in interest of healing.

This is a pair of tweets like none other, placed like bookends (or, double-barrels, depending on your taste); at once addressing two sides of the coin; worded with the elegant, syntactical symmetry of a Kennedyism;  challenging the Mindless amongst the New Yorkers, to look into their hearts and feel the true emotions of that day of bloody catastrophe; subtly asking Muslims if they are truly ‘peace-seeking’; simply asking for honesty on both sides.

Indeed if the soulful brevity of the Twitter format were ever meant to be the bearer of a stinging rebuke, there couldn’t be many other examples such as this one.

Thank you Sarah Palin, America loves you! The world will thank you, someday.

Sarah followed upon those tweets with a wonderful post at Facebook.

She called the idea of the mosque ‘an intolerable mistake on hallowed grounds’.

This is not an issue of religious tolerance but of common moral sense. To build a mosque at Ground Zero is a stab in the heart of the families of the innocent victims of those horrific attacks.

Many Americans, myself included, feel it would be an intolerable and tragic mistake to allow such a project sponsored by such an individual to go forward on such hallowed ground. This is nothing close to “religious intolerance,” it’s just common decency.

Thanks again, Sarah, for speaking up on behalf of millions of Americans. You lend your voice to the pain, consternation and the uh oh feeling in the hearts of millions of people around the world – yes including Americans who will never vote for you. You took an important moral stand, articulated the feelings of many, and stood with those who cry out. Governor, you did the right thing!!

Sarah Palin has spoken, she doesn’t think the mosque is a good idea – it hurts!

Thanks, Governor!

Original Post Begins Here:

There should be no Muslim presence at Ground Zero.

The place where the towers collapsed due to terrorist attacks is hallowed ground, a sacred place.

A little known fact is that the exact building where the proposed mosque will go up is also a crash site, where debris from destroyed airplanes fell through the roof.

The WTC site is, in fact, a burial ground of Americans. The individuals who died there may be of all different faiths, or faithless. But they all died as Americans – yes, even illegal aliens, were there any – and, they died because they were Americans. The faith they lived and died for, was America!

And yet, local idiots prefer to wear blinders and ear plugs.

Here is Raymond Ibrahim at Pajamas Media on The Two Faces of the Ground Zero Mosque, (those who are well read will notice the nice echo off the title of the book by Stephen Schwartz, also quoted below, The Two Faces of Islam).

… the true history of Cordoba, not to mention the whole of Andalusia, is far less inspiring than what Western academics portray: the Christian city was conquered by Muslims around 711, its inhabitants slaughtered or enslaved. The original mosque of Cordoba — the namesake of the Ground Zero mosque — was built atop, and partly from the materials of, a Christian church.  Modern day Muslims are well aware of all this.  Such is the true — and ominous — legacy of Cordoba.

More pointedly, throughout Islam’s history, whenever a region was conquered, one of the first signs of consolidation was/is the erection of a mosque atop the  sacred sites of the vanquished: the pagan Ka‘ba temple in Arabia was converted into Islam’s holiest site, the mosque of Mecca; the al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest site, was built atop Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem; the Umayyad Mosque was built atop the Church of St. John the Baptist; and the Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque upon the conquest of Constantinople.

Why all this raking up of ancient history now? Because, the past is always with us, and when it comes to Islam, it will be so forever in future.  In Islam, it seems, the past, the present and the future, all meld into one incessant ideological force that washes away all else, including, and particularly, rational thought. And, those who forget history — you know, fill in the blanks!

Now, we have this sorry situation of this little ad that the big media doesn’t want Americans to see.

The cruel, insensitive gesture of building a mosque at Ground Zero, a burial place where Americans decided not to rebuild a new office complex, is a topic poorly understood in the Bush-hating, America of Obama style contrition.

Thanks to whoever uploaded this video:

Just a few years ago, such a notion would have been unthinkable, yet a mere decade after 9/11, on the very anniversary, Muslims want to rub America’s face into the hallowed ground of twin tower collapse.

And, to question the insensitivity of such monstrosity is Islamophobic, and the Big Media can’t digest it?

Such a topsy-turvy world, a travesty indeed!

This is the ad that got the media panties in a knot.

Ben Smith reports that CBS and NBC have refused to broadcast this ad.

Perhaps the networks object to the presenter of the ad, some GOP mouthpiece. So what, it’s a sentiment shared by millions of decent Americans and humans around the world. If facts are known, even millions more will see the bald truth for what it is – the mosque represents a victory column. A classic territorial imprinting and emotional usurpation established in Classical Islam since times post-founding of Islam. Thousands of sacred, holy, and otherwise notable pre-existing locales of significance, have been Islamized in the past 1400 years. Only an utterly naive or uninformed person will fail to see such historical force at Ground Zero.

Islam has a habit of conquering and usurping the locales of other peoples and other faiths.  Haghia Sophia, Temple Mount come to mind.

For some five centuries Muslims went on a rampage across what is modern India, slaughtering, subjugating, destroying temples, converting others to Islam at sword point, and erecting mosques atop or adjacent to temples. Besides those in Turkey, Jerusalem  and Europe,  Somanath Temple, Kashi Vishwanth Temple, Triveni Prayag – these are just a few of the great sacred places of “other faiths’ that stand  as mute monuments to Islam’s brutality, blood thirst, conquest by hook or crook.

The construction of Muslim places of worship seem to be always preceded by bloody conquest, and always followed by acquiescence, subservience and jizzya.  Some scholars include the Taj Mahal also in such a list (but the secularized Indians are too timid to deal with such a possibility).

What is wrong with the ad above? What is inaccurate about it? Who does it really offend to speak the truth? What hurt could it cause Muslims to be sensitive to other faiths? Why does it always have to be Others who need to be sensitive to Muslims? After all, no Muslim country – and there are over a dozen countries that are constitutionally Islamic – allows a Hindu temple, Jewish synagogue or Buddhist chaitya, or even a Bahai’ center.

Simply put, why can’t the Muslims themselves offer to be sensitive, it’s not as though there is no shortage of space for a mosque.

To insist on a mosque near Ground Zero is nothing short of an insult, added to injury.

Why then is our media determined to keep this ad out of the public air waves? God only knows, but the American public will see it. They will see it via a thousand small and big blogs, websites, chat rooms, posts, tweets, emails and other bits of etherized text. Via this invisible force that will be filled with righteous indignation, cruel hurt, and raw wound.

Could it be that the behemoths of the public sphere chose simply be afraid of ad revenue, or chose ignorance of history. Could it be the men and women in cool ivory towers have not done their homework on history of civilization?

Just listen to the voices from across the spectrum:

Explanation of this habit  of triumphalism and supremacism can be found in this video by one Pat Condell. Once rare, nowadays one sees this video around in a lot of blogs.

Now, the emotionally dead, politically correct, secularists, anti-Zionists, Liberals, terrorist-comforters, jihad-justifiers, multi-cultural mavens, and would-be jizzya-payers –  dhimmis of all shades and stripes – are outraged that Pamela Geller has the audacity to organize a protest of this insensitive monstrosity.

Listen to her simple explanation of why we feel the outrage.

Another angry, wounded wail comes from Jules Crittenden, who lays bare the Islamists’ and/or their Apologists’ hypocrisy in it all:

…. still waiting for the greater Islamosphere to stop squawking about how it has been victimized and misunderstood in all of this business. If anyone is sincerely interested in fostering better relations with their Christian and Jewish brothers, how about a 15-story Islamic contrition and anti-terrorism center? Devoted, among other things, to Middle East democracy and free speech. They could call it New York House, or if that one’s taken, World Trade Center House, after a place where Muslims, Christians and Jews were getting along and prospering as well as they have at any time in history … living together, working together, voting together, all that, and on Sept. 11, 2001, dying together.

We refer to Stephen Suleiman Schwartz, an enthusiastic, self-styled scholar-mystic who embraced Islamic Spiritualism. Writes he:

…  Ground Zero Islamic facility rests on a support network linked to the anti-Jewish Mahathir and the Perdana-supported Gaza raiders, some notable servants of the Iranian clerical dictatorship, and an Egyptian property developer associated with the pro-Hamas chief of the Arab League. [  ]

Lazio and King are right, and Cuomo and Bloomberg are wrong. Aside from the matter of sensitivity to the families of the 9/11 victims and other Manhattanites who live near Ground Zero, if the friends and fans of Feisal Abdul Rauf believe his mosque plan is entirely above board, they should be the first to encourage full public disclosure of its backing and finances.   “A Mosque Grows Near Brooklyn –  The dubious Financing of ‘Cordoba House’ deserves scrutiny.”

From Sacred Sites:

The most imposing structure the Muslims found in Jerusalem was the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Nearby the Arab conquerors undertook to build a more spectacular edifice, the Dome of the Rock, not only to proclaim the supremacy of Islam, but also to ensure that the new followers of Islam would not be tempted by Christianity. The site chosen was the very same rock where previously had stood the Jupiter temple of the Romans and before that, the two temples of the Jews.

A final thought, one wonders what Sarah Palin thinks about all this. It’s time for our favorite Governor to pitch in with her reflection.

Tariq Ramadan, the suave French-speaking grandson of the founder of Muslim Brotherhood has finally been appearing on the North American public scene.

After several years of resistance by the Bush administration, the new winds of change and hope in Washington have finally blown in his favor.

His visit has rattled the nerves of several reformist minded scholars and activists in the US and Canada. The fear, the anxiety and consternation amongst the reformists is palpable. The angst is notable, as are the elocution and the argument.

There is much here for the Americans to learn from.

Tariq Ramadan has come here to make sure that our children become a Fifth Column against western civilization.

Our fear as Muslim Canadians is not about Tariq Ramadan wants to do, our fear is what non-Muslim mainstream Canadians feel comfortable in the snake oil he is selling to them.

Western civilization has become lazy, when somebody spits in them, they’d rather believe that there is drizzle in the air.

I am more fearful of the cowardice of the Western society and the complacency of  Quebec intelligentia …

He is a parasite in Montreal, he is a termite in Canada.

What does it say to you, the danger is not Tariq Ramadan, the danger is the complacency of the western civilization ….

Strong words, strong feelings. But if you follow through all the four videos, you will see the genuine argument for reform, democracy and liberty. And for individual redemption and individuation!

The four videos of the interviews at this press conference on the topic of Welcoming Tariq Ramadan, given by the “voluntary soldiers of Canada” speaking to the western world, as “the canaries in the coal mine”,

You can access all of the videos on one page if you go to the web site Point de Bascule, but the text around the videos will be in French, at Daily Motion, it’s all in English. But if you do read French, you can also watch a French language interview with the author of the book, Brother Tariq, a book on Ramadan.

These videos are highly recommended, each is a voice of a devout, spiritual gifted, sincere Muslim. They are voices crying out to the West not to be deaf, stupid, or suicidal. Americans are well served by the spirit embodied in that voice. For, ultimately, only America can help, if only help other help themselves.

It pays to listen: “You are being conned out of your freedoms.”

It’s heartening that someone is paying attention to the truth. Blunt truth, bluntly stated, about the sad case of a ‘trophy muslim’ who turned out to be a jihadist. Hail Sarah Palin, for speaking out, here on Hannity:

Here is the hard truth, plainly stated.

Everything you need to know about the jihadist psycho shrink’s fidayeen killing spree, and the inevitable Muslim propaganda – the entire simple truth is right here, and in this video:

While you are at it, check out the other embedded clips of Spencer, better yet, visit Jihad Watch.

It is easy to forget the broader picture, but we should remember a few things about deep Islam:

* In Islam country means nothing, faith is everything.

* Islam condones a variety of devices in spreading faith.

* Islam demands total submission, many Muslims feel conflicted, but resolve safely.

* Military duty is extremely stressful for Muslims, specially ‘in service of infidels’.

* Islams thoroughly condemns Muslims killing each other (except to spread it).

Debbie Shlussel writes with considerable insight about these matters.

Even more outrageous is the Army Chief’s worry about anti-Muslim backlash, and the ‘hurt to diversity.’ That, folks is a case of a person in authority “acting stupidly”.

As Pam Geller said, Would General Patton have recruited Nazis into his army?

Today is Patriot Day.
I don’t wish to let that slip out of of minds, at the same time this post about Horse Soldiers is too important to get knocked off the front page of the blog.

Peace to all the souls that have passed in the great cause that is the USA!

{ This post is respectfully dedicated to the memory of Johnny Micheal “Mike” Spann of the CIA. You do remember Johnny Spann, don’t you? No, you already forgot him? Shame on you! Well, nobody knew his name at first, of course, but he was that odd white man in salwaar-kameez who burst upon our collective consciousness, caught on film by a jerky camera in the hands of a Rashid Dostum militiaman, berating another equally odd white man – this other one pure evil – that was what, seems like an eternity ago.

Johnny Spann, an undercover paramilitary officer of the Central Intelligence Agency, was killed in the Quilai-E-Junghi uprising at Mazar-E-Sharif, Afghanistan, in the line of duty, one of many other unsung heroes. His was the first official death in the war against terrorism since 9-11. An illustrated blog post honoring Spann written by Pfc. David Votroubek can be read at The Tension. Even as the
nation honors Johnny Spann, my pain and outrage at the circumstances and consequences of his death continue unabated.

It is very difficult to get over the fact that while Johnny Spann lay dead, the man most directly and proximately responsible for it had songs written about him. To correct that  egregious error horror, this post, Johnny Spann, is your song. Readers of this blog, you too can help cherish Johhny’s memory.}

No nation can have too many heroes.

No peoples can have too many legends,  nor too much lore of majestic events past.

Such is the need, and indeed duty,  as we approach that sacred day of 9-11. Let’s recall once again the Legend of the Horse Soldiers who represent the numerous known and unsung men and women who died doing heroic deeds on our behalf, for our benefit.

This is the story of the Horse Solders.

Horse Soldiers: The extraordinary Story of a Band of U.S. Soldiers who Rode to Victory in Afghanistan. Doug Stanton, Simon & Schuster 2009.

“After three years of Taliban rule, there were old men in Mazar with stumps for hands. There were women who’d been routinely stoned and kicked on street corners. Young men who’d been imprisoned for not wearing beards. Fathers who’d been beaten in front of their sons for the apparent pleasure of those swinging their weapons.

The arrival of Mitchell and his soldiers on horseback had put an end to that. The people of Mazar-i-Sharif, the rugmakers and butchers, the car mechanics and schoolteachers, the bank clerks and masons and farmers, had thrown flowers and kisses and reached up to the Americans on their horses and pulled affectionately at the filthy cuffs of their camo pants. The locals had welcomed the balding, blue-eyed Mitchell and two dozen other Special Forces soldiers in a mile-long parade lining the highway that dropped into town out of the snowy mountains. Mitchell had felt like he was back in World War II, his grandfather’s war, riding into Paris after the Nazis fled.

That was just a brief quote from Horse Soldiers, a much longer excerpt can be read here.

Amzing Men - Awesome Action

Amzing Men - Awesome Action

The above quoted dramatic  portrait  is  just one tiny example out of numerous thrilling accounts of the war in Afghanistan during late  2001, as the US responded to 9-11.

An amazing band of brothers dropped in secretly on to the bleak landscape of the Central Asian wasteland, and in a throwback to times ancient, rode on horseback across sun baked plains to reach select points of enemy strongholds, to kill, destroy and avenge. And in the process, restore a certain hope and peace to a war-torn, savage land.

Below is a youtube clip of author Doug Stanton talking to Steve Bertrand, this is a Barnes & Noble production. A good conversation.

Here is Doug Stanton talking about the book at the University Club of Chicago.

…battles were won in ways that Custer would have recognized, by Northern Alliance mujahidin charging Taliban positions in the old style, breaking through before they could be decimated by automatic weapons fire. 21st Century high tech warfare combined with ancient cavalry tactics won the day repeatedly. Horse Soldiers is filled with unforgettable characters, including the special ops soldiers who had to be as much diplomats as well as warriors, forging an army on the march from disparate tribes and warlords. Mark Whittington, Associated Content

If I were Donald Rumsfeld’s son, I’d give him “Horse Soldiers” for Father’s Day. [ ] Stanton packs a huge amount of research into a thrilling action ride of a book. The valor exhibited by Afghan and American soldiers, fighting to free Afghanistan from a horribly cruel regime, will inspire even the most jaded reader. The stunning victory of the horse soldiers — 350 Special Forces soldiers, 100 C.I.A. officers and 15,000 Northern Alliance fighters routing a Taliban army 50,000 strong — deserves a hallowed place in American military history. Bruce Barcott, in New York Times Book Review.

Stanton eschews political posturing and Monday morning quarterbacking in favor of telling a small but important story from the viewpoint of a handful of Special Forces officers and non-commissioned officers who supported the Northern Alliance in October-December 2001. [ ] On the whole, Stanton does a good job telling the story of those early days in Afghanistan and the small number of men who were sent there to carry fire and sword to our enemies. An unfair, but necessary, criticism of Stanton is that unless you have served in a combat arms outfit you really can’t describe the attitudes and interpersonal relationships that exist there. You can’t begin to understand the ambiguity of a professional soldier’s relationship with his wife, his family, indeed any one but his comrades. By ‘Streiff’ at The Right Reads.

Stanton delivers page after page of harrowing descriptions that will make readers feel as if they’re inside the Chinook chopper when it runs into a blinding sandstorm flying at unchartered altitudes over mountains, or as if they’re ear-bleedingly close to the explosions from bombs fighter pilots drop on Taliban strongholds. The book has its unforgettable characters, too, such as intelligence officer Sam Diller, who survived days behind enemy lines calling in airstrikes, and Capt. Mitch Nelson, who embodies the brains and macho toughness of the Special Forces. And there’s shrewd Afghan warlord Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, whose personality, courage and determination to rid his homeland of the Taliban and foreign al-Qaeda is remarkable. But like war itself, the cast is too large. The front of the book lists five pages of “key players,” and early on, readers will find the who’s who tough going. But as the story progresses toward its bloody climax at Mazar-i-Sharif, the heroes and the villains are easily identifiable. Today, as 17,000 more U.S. troops are being deployed to Afghanistan to fight a resurgent Taliban, the Horse Soldiers’ secret mission remains the U.S. military’s finest moment in what has since arguably been a muddled war.

Don Oldenburg, for USA TODAY

Horse Soldiers provides a poignant recount of what these men in service felt at regular intervals during this special and secretive assignment. For a moving and unforgettable account of these first harrowing months in the war in Afghanistan, after 9/11, Horse Soldiers is a must read. I will forewarn you that these accounts are graphic and tragic. However, each page will reinforce your understanding of the destructive and divisive side of war, as well as, the undying bonds and commitments these men have for their fellow fighters and the people they are challenged to help or salvage from the ravages of Al Qaeda abroad. Michelle Kaye Malsbury @ Book Pleasures.

It’s one of the most iconic images of the war on terror: bearded American soldiers on horseback and native tribesmen charging Taliban positions in Afghanistan. Seven years later, the photo still resonates — partly because it’s such a classic American image, partly because it’s one of the few heroic images of allied soldiers widely disseminated by the mainstream media. In his thrilling new book, Horse Soldiers, bestselling author Doug Stanton for the first time tells the complete story of the two teams of about a dozen Special Forces soldiers and CIA paramilitary operators who defeated the Taliban and sent al Qaeda on the run for the caves of Tora Bora. [ ]Stanton gives Rumsfeld a lot of credit for allowing the Special Forces their latitude; and attributes to George Tenet the idea of quickly putting CIA and SF teams in the field to coordinate targeting with the Air Force. Mitch Nelson, the Army Special Forces captain in charge of the team sent to Afghanistan, coordinated the Air Force’s bombing of targets with the Afghan Northern Alliance. Nelson would prove himself the ultimate example of Rogers’ doctrine of the warrior who is highly trained, highly intelligent and, most importantly, able to adapt to the situation at hand in a bold and decisive manner. [ ] Horse Soldiers also gives lie to the cheap shot taken by liberals that President Bush and Rumsfeld “outsourced” the fight at Tora Bora when it would have been a slam-dunk strategy to send in the Marines. Stanton shows how successful U.S. Special Forces and Afghan fighters were when coupled with air power. There was little reason for the administration to know that the Eastern Alliance would be less effective than the Northern Alliance — though as Dalton Fury, the Delta Force commander at Tora Bora would later reveal, the tactics were extremely effective and resulted in the deaths of hundreds of al Qaeda’s best fighters even though terror mastermind Osama bin Laden escaped. David Forsmark FrontPage Magazine

We as a nation tend to be short on memory, long on forgiveness, and generally more forward looking rather than backward. We tend to be reactive, quick to like or dislike, but slow to change (just look at how we change or don’t change presidents). Already, within less than eight years after 9/11, the pendulum of public opinion has swung wildly. The latest iteration of it being George Will’s call to quit Afghanistan.
