Via the estimable Susan Duclos’s Wake Up America, this is an excellent video produced by the latest political force on the horizon, ShePAC.

More enlightened insight, also via WUA,  the Great Greta on the latest exercise in misogyny.

The last great human wilderness action-adventure sport is on. Nay, it’s not just human, it’s human-animal interactive, dynamic competitive race against time.

The Iditarod Race is an amazing event. Hundreds of dogs, dozens of mushers, thousands of volunteers – and a thousand mile trail along Alaska’s wildest, coldest frontier landscape. The 2012 edition of the race is underway along the so-called Northern Trail.

This year’s roster of mushers features the charming sisters Berington. Listen to them here.

Godspeed, ladies!!

And speaking of ladies, let’s spend a moment about the other great lady of Alaska – Sarah Palin.

This blog wouldn’t have been drawn to this race if it weren’t for Sarah Palin. In fact, all things about Alaska are fascinating and beautiful only because of our love and esteem for Governor Sarah. The governor simply opened up a whole new world to millions around the globe. This blog finds it compelling to seek out and post amazing things about Alaska, about Alaskans and about Sarah.

Simply put, Governor Palin puts us in a state of adventure. For us Sarah Palin totally personifies Alaska. Her political philosophy is icing on this cake of discovery.

Interesting things about the race: just completing the race is a great honor, just as in a marathon race; finishing in the top half is a distinct achievement; repeat winning is an awesome result of dedication, discipline and luck. The race is a beloved tradition that seems to involve virtually every Alaskan. There is an excellent series about this race available for streaming on netflix/roku: The Toughest Race On Earth 2008.

May safety and good health accrue to all dogs, mushers, staff and volunteers involved. And may Sarah Palin prevail and grow in strength!

A late observation:

It’s amazing how perfectly Sarah Palin pronounced the name of the southern Indian state Andhra Pradesh.

And, why did she mention that state, after all, she was only looking to make a point of geographical bookends! Did she do it to show off, to hint her awareness of Telangana headlines, acknowledge the value of Cyberabad to US economy, or is she foreshadowing future for Andhra Pradesh in a Sarah Palin administration? All very intriguing items…

The Q and A session just started.

Sarah scores hugely with Indians when she sounds alarm about China. Historical negative relations, China’s big brother approach to Asian countries, aggression against India — all cause Sarah’s China comments to be warmly received by Indians. Sorry Americans, forget the cheap crap you buy.

“I am not going to sit back and take it..”

Her comments on mainstream media gets a loud applause …

Sarah Palin in Q and A session after her speech

Thank you Rediff for livestreaming – we love our governor!

First things first.

The haters are out in full strength, with their usual vapid gusto and vitriol.

It behooves the followers of Sarah Palin to get into the act, and answer them jab for jab.

Go here to listen, get on facebook and twiiter. Support the lady!

Amazing Fact:

“Alaska is huge, almost as big as half of India”

“It is false, that we don’t need to drill for new oil in America”

“My vision for America — boldly engages in leadership”

“India’s strong women leaders..”

“Mother Theresa’s message of the sanctity of live”

“Our two democracies understand the hunger for freedom”

Sarah Palin compares The Boston Teaparty with The Dandi Salt March — awesome, extraordinary and original feat of rhetoric .. Bravo Sarah!

The greatest terrorist threat is?  “Nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorist groups”

President Obama often gets praise for pronouncing Paaakisthaan so well, will Sarah Palin get praise for pronouncing Ahmedinejad right?

Bravo Sarah!!!

She scores again!!

She uses the magical word, “De-Hyphenation” a code word in diplomacy — India and Pakistan are not equal, equivalent or equivocal in US view — that alone wins her more popularity in India and among Indian-Americans.

J Street continues to make waves. Not content with the cult of Obama they unleashed, that viciously anti-jewish dhimmi-Jewish group proved itself to be totally clueless in matters of geopolitics.

In a strongly written condemnation, American Thinker excoriated a leader of that group who recently wondered aloud that ‘may be Israel ain’t such a good idea’ after all.

How did we come to this existential credulity? How did the most prosperous, the most beneficent of the modern societies, devoted to the well-being of humanity come to have such doubts about the simple right of the righteous people to exist and govern themselves. As they have proven to the world for nearly a century that they could indeed do it admirably, nobly and honorably. All the while, their enemies plotted, feuded, failed and provoked and wallowed in wretchedness.

American society, at once noble, gallant and giving, that rescued millions, fed the hungry and homed the refuse of the nations, suddenly amidst us grows this cancerous group that simply obfuscates, vacillates and doubts the very validity of Israel’s existence!

The janissaries of  J Street are at last showing their true color. It’s sad.

Sarah Palin deserves a hearty salute. For standing by Israel everyday, in every way. Her utter goodness shines through!

Why it’s the right thing  that Sarah Palin endorses Carly Fiorina.

Forcing a leader to be cast into the image of the followers is a disastrous form of democracy. Leaders should lead, followers may chose to vote or not. Hopefully, in a mature electorate, a complete constellation of a given leader’s background and qualifications, as well as  evaluation of the totality of positions, should suggest to voters to favor or disfavor a given leader.  Governor Palin deserves nothing less than such level headed approach.

In a New York Times article about David Axelrod, the legendary Chicago political operative is described by Mark Leibovich  as the president’s moustachioed message maven. The alliteration got attention, of course. Memorandum noted it at the head over the weekend, and Daily Caller featured the NYT article front and center.

Liebovich himself returns an echo later on in the article with “a walrus of a man”. Still further down in the article the subject Axelrod himself indulges a bit “with palace intrigue pathology of Washington”.

What also drew attention was a description of Axelrod at the beginning of the article, eyes droopy and looking more burdened than usual.

That, all those alliterations getting thrown around and, the general thrust of the article in painting over a failing presidency and flagging poll numbers as ‘communication failures’ brought to mind the greatest alliteration maven of all, Spiro Agnew. For those too young and wondering Spiro Who, Mr.  Spiro Agnew was Governor of Maryland and  the first vice-president under Richard Nixon.

Agnew told a 1970 audience in San Diego, “we have more than our share of the nattering nabobs of negativism.” He went after “pusillanimous pussyfooters” and “vicars of vacillation” and “the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history.”
Time Magazine.

The enduring phrase ‘nattering nabobs of negativism’ though made famous by Agnew, is said to have been penned by speechwriter William Safire who also turns out to be a contributor to the very same, said New York Times.

It’s possible that the high priests of rhetoric entrust the affect of alliterative analytical averring too much. Perhaps, much too much. Kennedysms are far more effective, we think. For, while saying the same thing differently, they tell the same point at different times.

One wonders,  is this alliterative analytical article on Obama’s message man a harbinger of resurrection, or of downfall?  When will Bob Somerby weigh in on this typical beltway writer’s affliction?

N.B.  SARAH PALIN:

NO alliteration

Palm notes OK

URGR8!

  • Slaying Salmon July 15, 2014
Home from commercial fishing grounds in Bristol Bay, and here's Piper helping slay salmon to market! A good season for wild reds on the Nushagak, Piper hopes to make enough to cover, maybe, a cell phone bill. Do you agree, as I’ve said before, we need more girls holding up fish in pics instead of holding up iPhones in selfies?!  It’s always wonderful re […]

  • It Takes a Village... to Slay a Salmon July 3, 2013
The beauty of catching some of our Alaskan species with fins is the amount of meat harvested with each fish. Rod and reeling red salmon, or, my favorite, a big (or even not so big) halibut ensures you've got a few dinners taken care of even when feeding a bunch of people. We had a blast hauling in halibut in Homer a few days ago, despite the cold rain an […]
  • Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of Gettysburg June 30, 2013
Today marks the beginning of the week-long ceremonies commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. There will be a full re-enactment of the battle, discussions with panels of historians, and of course a re-reading of the Gettysburg Address. But as Lincoln affirmed when he dedicated that hallowed ground, nothing we say or do can “add or de […]
  • #SOTUGottaBKiddingMe February 13, 2013
If you missed President Obama’s State of the Union address last night, you didn’t miss much – especially if you watched any of his past four State of the Union addresses. We heard the same recycled rhetoric, and we heard his Orwellian declaration that the cornucopia of new federal programs he proposed, as well as his intention to eradicate world poverty, wou […]
  • New Year's Resolution to Keep the Faith! January 1, 2013
Best wishes to everyone for a happy New Year! In the coming days there will be a great deal of debate about the goings-on in the political arena and the shenanigans in Washington. Constitutional commonsense conservatives must stay engaged and hold our “leaders” accountable to the voice of average everyday hard working Americans or we will very soon become an […]

The media's liberal bias keep getting worse in the Age of Trump. The Motor City Madman has had a change of heart. And he’ll do his part by shelving his own ugly comments regarding the modern Left. “At the […]
