Endorsement of Fiorina – Let Palin be Palin

Posted on: May 7, 2010

Why it’s the right thing  that Sarah Palin endorses Carly Fiorina.

Forcing a leader to be cast into the image of the followers is a disastrous form of democracy. Leaders should lead, followers may chose to vote or not. Hopefully, in a mature electorate, a complete constellation of a given leader’s background and qualifications, as well as  evaluation of the totality of positions, should suggest to voters to favor or disfavor a given leader.  Governor Palin deserves nothing less than such level headed approach.

But apparently there is trouble in paradise, or disaffection amongst the affectionate. Andy Barr of Politico noted as much in the post: Facebook turns on Sarah Palin.

As of late, Sarah’s post on her Facebook page – Let’s shake it up in California! – has had 7205 Likes and 1640 Comments.

Andy Barr notes that Facebook has hosted a very loyal following for Sarah Palin, that her supporters there are very faithful, and that the endorsement of Carly Fiorina seemed to have stirred up a lot of them into vocal questioning. All true enough.  But Andy Barr is totally inaccurate and unfair when he refers to Facebook as Sarah Palin’s ‘safe haven’.

First of all, Sarah Palin needs no safe haven, she does need a medium of communication, and that’s all Facebook is. It is undoubtedly a modality par excellence for staying in touch with large groups of people. But then there is also Twitter, MySpace, any number of Forums, and other web hangouts. None of them constitute a safe haven, let alone for an outspoken, brave lady like Sarah Palin.

Second, ever since resigning the governorship nearly a year ago, essentially due to a ridiculous amount of politically motivated investigative hassle, Sarah Palin has never been out of the news, never shied away from news, or been unable to make news, or impact public discourse.

Third, Sarah Palin has been, while being without office, at least as visible as our president.  (And quite a lot more cogent and commonsensical.)

Here is the best reason of all, many of you need to be reminded of this even, so much time has passed, to let Sarah be Sarah.

Carly Fiorina was one of the earliest most firm supporter of Sarah Palin in the weeks after Sarah was nominated.

I find all this talk  all of this conversation about her being qualaified, which I think originated in the Obama campaign, quite stunning….

Listen in the above video, to Fiorina taking Obama to the cleaners. Too bad the pundits and the fawning media acolytes weren’t quite so concerned. Boy, are we paying the price today!

In politics, endorsements and public supports go reciprocal, like friendship and courtesy. Sarah Palin is quite right to endorse Fiorina, regardless of the excellence of other candidates.

So, my suggestion to those who find Carly Fiorina failing some kind of un-RINO litmus test, relax, take a chillpill, call me in late November!

It’s also worth recalling at this time, this other video that became bloggers’ favorite in the Fall of 2008.

Finally, for those who haven’t read the complete Sarah Palin Note at Facebook, here is a quote:
About Carly Fiorina.
She is against Obamacare and will vote to repeal it and prevent the government takeover of private companies and industries. Carly is also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. Like me, she is a member of the NRA, has a 100% NRA rating, and she and her husband are gun owners.

Sarah Palin: You asked President Obama to call you up, regarding Your [Experience] on the [BP Oil Crisis] ?

1. You were Not Governor during the 89 Exxon Valdez Oil Spillage and that Governor was Helpless as Governor PiYush [Bobby] Jindal is today.

2. You only have 2 1/2 Years as Governor of Alaska.

3. You Never had an Under Water Oil Eruption-Explosion to Deal with in your 2 1/2 years as Governor of Alaska, so What should President Obama be calling You for in Particular. You Couldn’t Deal with Holding on to Your Elected Job for a Full Term, yet You Act as if You’ve Served 3 Terms as Governor [Foolish & Delusional] Indeed.

4. To this Day, No President of Any Country has Dealt with this kind of Crisis. Correction:

Note: Mexico – 1980 – 100 million gallons
An accident in an oil well caused an explosion which then caused the well to collapse. The well remained open, spilling 30,000 gallons a day into the ocean for a full year.

5. This is BP’s Problem, BP’s Responsibility, BP’s Ill-Preparedness and BP will have to Pay, Each State as well as the People within those [Affected States]

6. The President could call the Entire Navy and Coast Guard Fleets as well as National Guardsmen and all they can Do is Watch at Sea and Help Clean Up on Land, that’s it. as David Brooks Stated…

“The Government is Not in the Oil Business, that’s BP’s Job”

Palin:Prove to Your [Adoring Zombies] in Your 2 1/2 Years as Governor, that You’ve Dealt with Anything on this Scale or Magnitude.

If I can Expose You like this, just Imagine, what The Mass Media and Pres. Obama will Do To You.

Home from commercial fishing grounds in Bristol Bay, and here's Piper helping slay salmon to market! A good season for wild reds on the Nushagak, Piper hopes to make enough to cover, maybe, a cell phone bill. Do you agree, as I’ve said before, we need more girls holding up fish in pics instead of holding up iPhones in selfies?!  It’s always wonderful re […]

  • It Takes a Village... to Slay a Salmon July 3, 2013
The beauty of catching some of our Alaskan species with fins is the amount of meat harvested with each fish. Rod and reeling red salmon, or, my favorite, a big (or even not so big) halibut ensures you've got a few dinners taken care of even when feeding a bunch of people. We had a blast hauling in halibut in Homer a few days ago, despite the cold rain an […]

Today marks the beginning of the week-long ceremonies commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. There will be a full re-enactment of the battle, discussions with panels of historians, and of course a re-reading of the Gettysburg Address. But as Lincoln affirmed when he dedicated that hallowed ground, nothing we say or do can “add or de […]

If you missed President Obama’s State of the Union address last night, you didn’t miss much – especially if you watched any of his past four State of the Union addresses. We heard the same recycled rhetoric, and we heard his Orwellian declaration that the cornucopia of new federal programs he proposed, as well as his intention to eradicate world poverty, wou […]
  • New Year's Resolution to Keep the Faith! January 1, 2013
Best wishes to everyone for a happy New Year! In the coming days there will be a great deal of debate about the goings-on in the political arena and the shenanigans in Washington. Constitutional commonsense conservatives must stay engaged and hold our “leaders” accountable to the voice of average everyday hard working Americans or we will very soon become an […]

Where does acting end and reality begin? In a movie now in rotation on HBO, actress Allison Williams, the daughter of MSNBC anchor Brian Williams, declares: “My dad would have voted for Obama a third time if he could have. Like, the love is so real.” Sounds perfectly plausible that such sentiment would apply to her real life father, the disgraced ousted anch […]
