UPDATE 3-16-2010

Nikki Haley gets yet another important endorsement!!

Former governor of Massachusetts, and presidential candidate, Mitt Romney endorses Nikki Haley for governor of South Carolina. He is expected to make campaign appearances with her. They have an enduring political bond going back to Romney’s own short-lived campaign for president back in 2008.

Look at the sidebar for link to contribute to Nikki Haley.

“Ann and I got to know Nikki Haley during my campaign for president and came away enormously impressed with her as a person of character and as the spokesperson for a new generation of leadership for South Carolina,” Governor Romney said. “She has a proven conservative record of fighting wasteful spending and advocating for smaller, more efficient government. I’m honored to call her my friend and prouder still to endorse her campaign for governor.”

Nikki has been my representative in the statehouse for several years and I’ve never met another politician who was so unlike a politician. She is down to earth and willing to fight for us on those issues that affect us profoundly. She is one of us who has taken that extra step and truly sought to make a positive difference. I think we’re very lucky to have her running.

Her main claim to fame, in my opinion, is her fighting for and partially winning on-the-record voting by shaming the corrupt statehouse establishment into rules changes. The good news is that she’s not finished. She, as the rest of us who are paying attention, still wants a law and she will keep fighting to get it. She is the only candidate committed to getting us transparency in the statehouse on voting and on accounting for every dime spent. Transparency is the FIRST step in reclaiming our government from the perpetual and institutionalized corruption in the statehouse.

No one can argue against her fiscal conservativism. She saw the collapse coming and was one of the many voices warning beforehand that our state government spending was not only immoral but was unsustainable.

She is all about responsibility and she is willing to fight for what is right. That puts her miles apart from the good ol’ boys seeking a “promotion” for their long careers of self-serving public service.

We need someone who is willing to fight and has a record of fighting the corruption in the statehouse. The good ol’ boys running against her are indistinguishable in their big government approaches to anything and everything.

If the voters of this state are responsible adults and show some guts, they’ll elect Nikki Haley.

Thanks for visiting and commenting at length. Glad to know another fan of Nikki Haley. May she win!

  • Slaying Salmon July 15, 2014
Home from commercial fishing grounds in Bristol Bay, and here's Piper helping slay salmon to market! A good season for wild reds on the Nushagak, Piper hopes to make enough to cover, maybe, a cell phone bill. Do you agree, as I’ve said before, we need more girls holding up fish in pics instead of holding up iPhones in selfies?!  It’s always wonderful re […]

The beauty of catching some of our Alaskan species with fins is the amount of meat harvested with each fish. Rod and reeling red salmon, or, my favorite, a big (or even not so big) halibut ensures you've got a few dinners taken care of even when feeding a bunch of people. We had a blast hauling in halibut in Homer a few days ago, despite the cold rain an […]

Today marks the beginning of the week-long ceremonies commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. If you missed President Obama’s State of the Union address last night, you didn’t miss much – especially if you watched any of his past four State of the Union addresses. We heard the same recycled rhetoric, and we heard his Orwellian declaration that the cornucopia of new federal programs he proposed, as well as his intention to eradicate world poverty, wou […]

Best wishes to everyone for a happy New Year! In the coming days there will be a great deal of debate about the goings-on in the political arena and the shenanigans in Washington. Constitutional commonsense conservatives must stay engaged and hold our “leaders” accountable to the voice of average everyday hard working Americans or we will very soon become an […]

The Democrats blinked in the first round of the government-shutdown fight over immigration, but they promise to regroup and fight again for illegal immigrants who came to America as minors. The Democrats call them “Dreamers,” and so the “Facts First” media employ that loaded propaganda term as well.
