Obama lead slips to just 3 points

According a Reuters/C-Span/Zogby poll released on Sunday, Obama’s lead has slipped in recent days, now is just 3 points, BO leading Mac 48 to 45. The poll has a 2.9 point margin of error. According to John Zogby, the pollster, the closing of the gap could be the result of a McCain bump from the last debate. Also, for the first time McCain share of the popularity has touched the psychologically critical 45 point mark.
He said the Arizona senator appeared to have solidified his support with the Republican base — where 9 out of 10 voters now back him — and was also gaining ground among the independents who may play a decisive role in the November 4 election.
Obama’s lead among independent voters dropped to 8 points on Sunday from 16 points a day earlier. [sic]
Women, who are expected to be an important factor in the election, still favor Obama by a 6-point margin, although this has been declining in recent days.
In that same poll, independents drew 3 points: Bob Barr 2, and Ralph Nader 1.
