Palin hacker a Dem pol’s son, Obama connection?

Posted on: September 20, 2008

Update 10-10-08

David Kernell was indicted by a federal grand jury in Knoxville. Before US Magistrate Clifford Shirley, Kernell pleaded not guilty, trial could begin in mid December. The son of local Democrat politician was ordered to stay away from computers, except for school work, have no contact with Sarah Palin or her family members, and to not leave East Tennessee without court’s written permission. Kernell is free without bond, and faces faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.

Update 1830 Hrs, CDT, 9-21-08

Sharon Cobb is a writer/journo, her blog here, who is close to the family of Tennessee State Representaive Mike Kernell (D-TN,93), father of David the alleged hacker. Cobb had gone silent on this topic since Thrusday when she began defending the father and received a lot of unnecessary criticism. Sharon Cobb is back on the topic of the search warrant, and writes that contrary to speculation, David has not been arrested and is free in a hotel with his father. She still feels strongly that the father had nothing to do with the hacking. Another interesting tidbit from Cobb is that David Kernell’s mother just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. Few knew that the lady is in the Service.
Could it be that between an unavailabe mom, a libertarian dad, and a youthful surge of indiscretion, David Kernell took a prank too far?

If you are new to this post, be sure to go below the fold, there is a lot more information, links and such!

Update 9-21-08, 1500 Hrs. CDT

WBIR-TV just reported via a web alert that FBI has executed a search warrant at the apartment of David Kernell, the U of T-Knoxville student who is alleged to have hacked into Governor Palin’s Yahoo! email account. One blogger noted the witty aside that when Kernell reset the password, he used the word popcorn, we give him a B minus for wordplay.  Quote from the news alert:

A separate law enforcement source confirmed to 10 News that a search warrant was served on Kernell’s apartment.
According to the witness, several agents arrived at The Commons of Knoxville around midnight.
They presented their badges upon entering Kernell’s apartment, where several students were having a party, and took down their names.
The witness tells us they asked him and those who did not live in the unit to go outside.  He believes the investigators took about 1.5 to 2 hours taking pictures of everything inside the apartment.
He says Kernell’s three roommates were also subpoenaed, and must testify this week in Chattanooga.

All this took place at 115 Highland Ave., Fort Sanders, TN. The Kernells, father and son, have not commented.

Update 9-21-08
Wanted to add this video of a newsclip from Memphis Channel 3, WREG-TV confirming that FBI is moving to investigate the hack job, but no specific charges have yet been placed.

Special PUMA Alert: T he AP, that nasty, lying, weasely rumor mill that passes itself off as ‘news service’ has been reporting that Governor Palin has used her yahoo email to conduct state business, NOT TRUE. Several websites that have spent time perusing all published data have found no evidence of this. Some are also saying that Sarah deserved this, utter nonsense. Mind you this is the same AP that also took upon itself to do deep-analysis of Democratic and Independent voter psyche to come up with racism as force behind NObama.

Original Post Begins Here:

Pajamas Media dot com is reporting that a young student of University of Tennesee-Knoxville  was identified (by the Tennessean) as the hacker of Governor Palin’s email account. That youngster,  David Kernell is son of State Rep. Mike Kernell (D-TN, Dist# 93), and he may have links to David Plouff and the Obama campaign.

Richard Miniter, writing his own blog at Pajamas Media web portal writes about the father of this young man:

A well-informed Tennessee radio host Steve Gill told me this about the hacker’s dad: “He is an extremely left-wing Representative from Memphis who has been in the legislature 32 years and has never had any job other than professional politician.”

Makes you wonder what the dad’s role was, if any…

Earlier, the Tennessean has quoted the father, State Rep. Mike Kernell as admitting that his son is the subject of much chatter on the web, and speculation.

While no charges have been placed at this time, the son was contacted by authorities probing the hack job.

A website called Frankly Speaking, posted screenshots of the Facebook pages of this young man, and the comment section there is loaded with suggestion, innuendo and tips pointing to connections and/or involvement that the young man has had with Obama campaign.

A strong pro-Palin web site,  Skirts not Pantsuits  has more data and speculations, pictures of young David and more guesses about David Kernell.

Another Palin supporter site, Libertarian Republican also carries a blogtalkradio embed. You can listen to Eric Dondero do a long blogtalkRadio show. He interviews Trish Houser  the  woman who coined the word Palintology and owns and runs the web site palintology dot com.  It’s a delightful show, they talk about Sarah, Alaska, the email hack caper, and of course Palintology!  Give it a listen, Recommended!

All over the internet, especially along the fringes of the Republican party and amid the fissures between hard core party crustal plates, are numerous PUMAs. And thousands of Palin Pumas!

Keep up the good fight, for Sarah.

Sarah’s Pumas are coming home to roost!

Just like a Democrat. No morals. Cannot defend their position (there is no defense for murdering unborn babies) so they resort to name calling and every other low thing to try to win. Let’s not forget that other great Democrat, Bill Clinton, using barely legal interns to perform sex on him while he was president.

Home from commercial fishing grounds in Bristol Bay, and here's Piper helping slay salmon to market! A good season for wild reds on the Nushagak, Piper hopes to make enough to cover, maybe, a cell phone bill. Do you agree, as I’ve said before, we need more girls holding up fish in pics instead of holding up iPhones in selfies?!  It’s always wonderful re […]

  • It Takes a Village... to Slay a Salmon July 3, 2013
The beauty of catching some of our Alaskan species with fins is the amount of meat harvested with each fish. Rod and reeling red salmon, or, my favorite, a big (or even not so big) halibut ensures you've got a few dinners taken care of even when feeding a bunch of people. We had a blast hauling in halibut in Homer a few days ago, despite the cold rain an […]

Today marks the beginning of the week-long ceremonies commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. If you missed President Obama’s State of the Union address last night, you didn’t miss much – especially if you watched any of his past four State of the Union addresses. We heard the same recycled rhetoric, and we heard his Orwellian declaration that the cornucopia of new federal programs he proposed, as well as his intention to eradicate world poverty, wou […]
  • New Year's Resolution to Keep the Faith! January 1, 2013
Best wishes to everyone for a happy New Year! In the coming days there will be a great deal of debate about the goings-on in the political arena and the shenanigans in Washington.
