An early supporter and fundraiser for Obama, and a co-founder of Code Pink, Jody Evansmet with Iraninan President Ahmadinejad when he visited New York recently. Calling it a groundbreaking dialogue, a group of 150 peace activists calling itself Fellowship of Reconciliation (press release)led by the early cheerleader for Obama met the Iranian leader Wednesday.
The stated purpose of the meeting was to “serve as an opening for diplomatic resolution” to prevent war between Iran and the United States. Link
We are now learning that Evans was also a relentless leader in the back-room effort to steal away Hillary Clinton’s Hollywood supporters, by pressuring them with the rationale that Clinton was too willing to support the missions of U.S. troops in the war on terror.
As the anti-American Marxist rallied Hollywood’s elite behind Obama’s campaign, Jodie Evans painted Obama as a historic figure akin to John F. Kennedy Jr. and Martin Luther King Jr.
Soon both Evans, and her unemployed student son, maxed out with $4,600 in contributions to Barack Obama’s campaign.
Under Evans’ leadership, Code Pink put together an anti-Clinton website called www.ListenHillary.org and instructed supporters to heckle Clinton at public and private events because they felt she was being too pro-military.
The bottom line for Barack Obama is this: Jodie Evans has become the new Jeremiah Wright – only on estrogen. Melanie Morgan
Evans met with Obama in Beverly Hills last week at an exclusive $28,500 per person fundraiser. As a bundler for Obama, Evans is granted regular briefings with top Obama staff members and meeting with Obama and his vice presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware.
Obama has come under heavy criticism from military families and troops support organizations over his alliance with Evans.
Given Evans’ closeness to regular contacts with Obama and his campaign, it is fair to ask if she is acting as an intermediary for Obama.Obama recently put his seal of approval on Evans’ attempt to storm the stage during the acceptance speech of Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska when he welcomed her to his two Hollywood fundraisers last week, the exclusive $28,500 per person event and the $2500 per person event Barbra Streisand sang at the same evening. Evans was one of the two women removed from the Republican National Convention after trying to disrupt Sarah Palin’s speech, as reported by Twin Cities. com (Link)
Evans has also stated her agreement with Osama bin Laden’s motives for attacking America on September 11, 2001 in an interview broadcast June 3, 2008:
Jodie Evans:…”We were attacked because we were in Saudi Arabia, that was the message of Osama, was that because we had our bases in the Middle East, he attacked the United States.”
Paul A. Ibbetson: “Do you think that’s a valid argument?”Evans: “Sure. Why do we have bases in the Middle East? We totally violated the rights of that country. Why do we get to have bases in the Middle East?”
Also in that interview, Evans said Code Pink’s goal is to “undermine the war effort (of the United States”) and that she wished Saddam Hussein was still in power.
Toward that goal, Evans has worked with the governments of Saddam Hussein (in 2003), Hugo Chavez and the Castro brothers, as well as pro-insurgent elements in the Middle East. (Link)
Hot Air asks all the right questions:
why is a bundler for Obama’s campaign meeting with the head of the biggest terror-sponsoring regime in the world? Let’s skip over all of the hypocrisy of a supposed “peace” group sucking up to a man who funds terrorists, murders, and violence all over the world. (They like Castro, too, so that’s old news.) Here we have someone actively working to raise funds for Obama meeting with the explicitly avowed enemy of one of our closest allies. What does that say about Obama and his campaign?
Most people want to stop investing in an Iranian system that needs cash for its nuclear aspirations. Congress has considered a divestment bill this year, for instance, attempting to use leverage . In fact, both John McCain and Barack Obama support divestiture. Maybe that message got lost in the shuffle at Team O.
