Holy Cow, how quickly I fall behind….
Went about my life for just a couple of days and here shows up a new form of Possum.
Possum is that marsupial badge of a roadkill worn widely on the great American highway shoulders, that possum.
Only this time, the word derives from the much derided ’seal’ caper.
When the seal (no, not the creature, the emblem) met with some ‘change’ and was unveiled over the weekend there was much ‘hope’ that the new brand of politics of transcendence will have been achieved symbolically. I am not much of a fan of Newxmax and, I don’t read that much into the theology of the seal or the sociology of the slogan. But they got verily agitated along with others.
The team in-charge probably thought the re-designed seal will gather a few giggles, look cool and enthrall the kids, who wouldn’t have known what the original looked like anyway.
Possum lost something on its way from Latin to north. Jut look at the amended slogan, Vero possumus. Well, I mean the word play was just begging to happen. Possum-Us. The slogan might as well have been Possums-R-Us.
All this leads to an odd thought:
This possum comes to us from the work of a team accustomed to roadkill by throwing people under the bus quite regularly.
Allegre is right: It is PUMA 1, Possum 0.
It is fun to see a photo strip of this battle verbal between puma and possum over at Allegre’s.
And while we are at it, did I mention our slide-show, Just Words? Check it out.
